At Harrah’s Metropolis, you can try your luck on the casino floor with more than 800 slot games, 20 table games, video poker and other games.

The 30,000-foot casino floor supports slot machines from the top software developers, some with progressive jackpots. The table game selection includes blackjack, roulette, craps, baccarat and 100 video poker machines. All the games are on the same floor, so you can move from one game to another without having to walk too far.

The downside is the casino does not feature a sportsbook yet. Illinois sports betting became regulated in 2019, which means we could see a sportsbook at Harrah’s someday.

Harrah’s Metropolis had a dedicated poker room but announced its closure on Jan. 19.

All slots have comfortable seating and HD visuals and come in various denominations. You can find plenty of penny slots, as well as those whose stakes can be $25 per spin. The progressive slots can reach $100,000.

Table games

Harrah’s Metropolis Casino and Hotel is no stranger to great casino table action. You can count more than 20 tables featuring classic games, such as blackjack, roulette and craps. There are more exclusive games with exciting side bets, such as Blackjack 21 + 3 Xtreme, Top 3, Craps Firebet, Bonus Craps and Mini-Baccarat Dragon.

Caesars Rewards loyalty program

Being a part of the large Caesars Entertainment family, Harrah’s Metropolis Casino and Hotel is a Caesars Rewards loyalty program member. The program, which provides members with several perks, is present in more than 50 Caesars venues.

Players at Harrah’s Metropolis earn credits, aka Caesars Rewards comp points, every time they bet on slot machines and table games, eat at the resort’s restaurants, or even buy a cup of coffee or tea. So, the more you play, the more points you accrue.

As you collect more points, you climb the levels of the six-tier program. Each next tier brings more lucrative rewards, including free play credits, shopping and dining discounts, complimentary hotel stays, free show tickets, and spa and salon services.

The Caesars Rewards program is partners with Visa so program members can earn Caesars credits while they shop. You receive five credits for every $1 spent in Harrah’s Metropolis, while every $1 spent in grocery stores, airlines, and even gas stations brings two credits. If you spend $750 or more outside the casino and pay with the Caesars Rewards Visa card, you can earn 10,000 credits.

Harrah’s Metropolis Poker Room

Harrah’s poker room offers four tables of No-Limit Texas Hold’em. There are daily cash games and a weekly tournament every 6 p.m. on Thursdays.

The video poker options at Harrah’s include high card flush, three-card poker and Mississippi stud.

Harrah’s Metropolis, which is within three hours from Nashville, features a spacious hotel with 252 rooms and six luxury suites. When you are ready to take a break from the casino action, you can stay in a smoking or nonsmoking room. Suites are equipped with in-room coffee makers, free high-speed Wi-Fi, refrigerators, safes, pay-per-view movies and more. • Fresh Country Kitchen: Diners at Fresh can enjoy the best Southern delicacies and a three-style rotating lunch/dinner menu. The breakfast options bring a platter full of different oatmeals, croissants and other daily specials for only $9.99.

There is also Harrah’s Signature Bar, where you can enjoy live shows and concerts while drinking signature cocktails.

Harrah’s Metropolis History

The casino first opened its doors to visitors in 1994 as Players Island. It was rebranded in 2000 when the global gambling company we now know as Caesars Entertainment (formerly Eldorado Resorts) purchased it.

Following a corporate spinoff in 2017, the casino was acquired by Vici Properties. However, Vici immediately leased it back to Caesars, which has remained the casino’s operator.

Harrah’s Metropolis first opened its doors to the public as the Players Island casino founded by Players International and Merv Griffin. It was one of the first casinos in all of Illinois. In 2000, Harrah’s Entertainment acquired Players International and the casino was renamed Harrah’s Metropolis.

Harrah’s Entertainment became a part of Caesars Entertainment, with over 50 other establishments such as Harrah’s, Caesars Palace and many others. In 2017, Vici Properties assumed the casino’s ownership but leased it back to Caesars Entertainment, which still operates the casino.
