But the Bears had special teams issues all year, and those came back to bite them in the Playoffs. Playing against the Eagles in the Divisional Round, Cody Parkey had a chance to win the game with a field goal as time expired.
His kick instead bounced off both uprights before falling to the ground. Had the kick gone in, there’s a chance the Bears would have gone deep into the playoffs. Sadly, that season was the highlight of the Nagy-Trubisky era.
2010
The Bears went 11-5 in 2010 behind a good season from Jay Cutler, and stop us if you’ve heard this before, but an amazing defense.
Then, Chicago ran into archrival Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in the NFC title game.
Cutler injured his knee in the first half, which sparked months of discussion about his toughness. As it turned out, Cutler had a knee injury which typically forces players to miss four to six weeks.
Caleb Hanie entered the game in relief, but the Bears couldn’t hang with the Packers. Green Bay won 21-14, and that is the furthest Chicago has made it in the playoffs in recent memory.
