BetMGM has just been granted a license to introduce its sportsbook in Illinois, putting it in direct competition with top sportsbooks like DraftKings and FanDuel.

It is speculated that BetMGM mobile betting will go live by March 5, giving new users the ability to register from their phones once more.

In the coming weeks, Illinois residents can look forward to seeing some promotional offers from MGM that may not be available in the state yet.

If a score is made in the NFL conference championship games this weekend, bettors have the chance to win an additional $200 in wagers.

In this offer, a small $10 bet has the potential to result in a substantial profit for bettors. By placing a wager on either the AFC Championship game featuring the Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs, or the match between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, participants could receive two additional $100 bets.

These earnings can only be used as betting credits and cannot be withdrawn as cash.

During the season, New Yorkers can wager $10 on the Knicks moneyline and receive $200 in complimentary play deposits. The main benefit is that the payout will be given in four $50 installments, regardless of the outcome of the Knicks’ game.

At the end of this month, once MGM is up and running in Illinois, local gamblers may start seeing advertisements for the Bulls, Cubs, White Sox, or Blackhawks.

MGM’s importance in Illinois

DraftKings and FanDuel are leading the charge for sportsbooks in Illinois in terms of monthly handle and revenue.

Recent metrics released by MGM indicate that they have a strong potential to shake up the sports betting market in Illinois.

Data indicates that MGM is the second highest-ranking company in regions where its sports betting and casino operations are active. Additionally, they possess a 24% market share in Tennessee, Colorado, Indiana, Nevada, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

In 2022, more bookmakers will go live.

Last year in April, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker reintroduced the requirement for in-person registration for mobile betting accounts. This posed a challenge for sportsbooks in Illinois that did not have affiliations with brick-and-mortar establishments.

Therefore, more potential bookmakers have been prohibited from joining the industry. Nevertheless, Bally Bet, Unibet, and FOX Bet could potentially launch in Illinois in 2022.

Illinois punters will benefit if more casinos enter into competition, as the establishments will compete by offering better odds, promotions, and user-friendly mobile platforms.
