BetMGM has recently received a license to launch its sportsbook in Illinois and will soon compete directly with other leading sportsbooks in the state, such as DraftKings and FanDuel.

Speculations suggest that BetMGM mobile betting will become live on or before March 5, allowing new users to register from their phones once again.

Here are a few promotional cases that Illinoisans might expect from MGM when the text launches in the following weeks, despite them not being currently available in Illinois.

Bettors may win an extra $200 in wagers if a score is made in this weekend’s NFL conference championship games.

In this promotion, a mere $10 wager can yield bettors a significant return on their investment. If a score is made in either the AFC Championship game between Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs or the match between San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, participants may receive two extra $100 bets.

These earnings can only be utilized as betting credits, not as cash.

Throughout the season, New Yorkers have the opportunity to bet $10 on the Knicks moneyline, in return receiving $200 in complimentary play deposits. The greatest advantage is that the bet will yield a payout in four installments of $50, irrespective of whether the Knicks win or lose.

Later this month, when MGM is operational in the Prairie State, it’s likely that Illinois gamblers may spot a similar advertisement for the Bulls, Cubs, White Sox, or Blackhawks.

MGM’s importance in Illinois

In terms of monthly handle and revenue, DraftKings and FanDuel have been paving the way for sportsbooks in Illinois.

However, according to recent metrics released by MGM, they have a strong potential to disrupt the sports betting market in Illinois.

Statistics show that MGM ranks second in regions where its sports betting and casino operations are live. Furthermore, they hold a 24% market share in Tennessee, Colorado, Indiana, Nevada, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

In 2022, more bookmakers will go live.

In April of last year, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker reinstated in-person registration for mobile betting accounts. This was a setback for sportsbooks in Illinois that didn’t have connections with physical locations.

As a result, additional potential bookmakers have been barred from entering the industry. However, Bally Bet, Unibet, and FOX Bet might also become available in Illinois in 2022.

Only Illinois punters stand to gain if more casinos engage in competition. The books will strive to outdo each other by offering superior odds, better promotions, and the most user-friendly mobile platforms, among other things.
