New Illinois Bettors Mostly Taking A Swing At Golf Wagers

Written By Joe Boozell on July 13, 2020Last Updated on January 24, 2022

BetRivers launched its mobile product in Illinois in June. As of now, it’s the only mobile sportsbook offering in the Land of Lincoln. BetRivers Illinois was able to capitalize on Gov. JB Pritzker’s executive order suspending the in-person registration requirement indefinitely.

Another authorized operator, It & rsquo, is currently vying to see who can launch their product in time for a( hopefully ) loaded late July sports calendar. But what are Illinois residents betting on right now?

You’ll see that football and sport are by a wide margin in the final product. There is an iOS smartphone apps for BetRivers, though it isn’t available right now. Bettors can get the betting site using their phone and rsquo browser thanks to a third-party GeoComply app called GeoGuard.

What the IL runners are betting on

We are aware of the activities and teams with the highest bet percent despite the fact that we lack control quantities. These Illinois figures were released on a Sunday, July 5.

Sport/League % of the entire Wagering Volume
PGA Tour – Golf Sport Bet 32.48%
Spain’s La Liga in sports 12.55%
Italy’s sporting Serie A 10.21%
Sports USA-NWSL Challenge Cup 10.01%
Football in the Premier League in England 9.56%
PGA Check-out: 2 Grains, 18 Gap Bets 4.46%
sport in the English Premier League 4.31%
NASCAR Cup Line in Motorsports 2.98%
Football: South Korea’s KBO League 2.70%
Primeira Liga of Portugal in sporting 2.17%

The percentage of bets on all activities, not leagues, is as follows:

Sport % of the entire Wagering Volume
Football ( soccer ) 55.17%
Golf 36.95%
Baseball 4.03%
Motorsports 3.25%
Laws of Australia 0.58%
Basketball 0.01%
UFC/MMA 0.01%

* Data offered by BetRivers

35 percent of all wagers made next weekend, including those from Pennsylvania, Colorado, New Jersey, and Indiana, were placed on the Rocket Mortgage Classic, according to BetRivers. The competition was won by Bryson DeChambeau (+ 600 ), who was the betting favorite.

The situation of Illinois in relation to another position

With the exception of Illinois and Indiana, table tennis and solid placement are the main differences when comparing state-by-state information. Russian ping-pong, one of the few 2020 victors, was ranked in the top 10 in Colorado, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. In reality, it was Sunday’s most strongly bet league in Colorado, BetRivers & rsquo.

The reason it’s nowhere to be found in Illinois’ rankings? It’s not offered. The Indiana Gaming Commission pulled Russian ping-pong off the board amid integrity concerns last month. There’s been no official word from the Illinois Gaming Board on the subject, but maybe their justifications are the same.

In the forthcoming quarter, what does change?

Quite a bit The NBA plans to begin on July 30 and the NHL anticipates an Aug. 1 start. MLB is scheduled to start in July 23. Although we still don’t know much about the state of sports, the NFL currently intends to begin training camp on July 28. If preseason games take place, they & rsquo, would probably pique interest in betting. 2019 a href=”https://www.espn.com/chalk/story/_/id/27308607/who-betting-preseason-football”>ESPN story notes that NFL preseason games sometimes have a bigger handle than MLB regular-season games. And professional bettors love the preseason.

This should be a hectic couple of weeks and months for the Illinois betting industry, too. BetRivers may be the only online product on the market as of this writing, but that likely won’t be the case for long. DraftKings just partnered with Casino Queen to avoid the 18-month “penalty box” rule for mobile-only books, and it has a great incentive to launch in the Illinois market soon.

Here are the five more activities with four-year licenses for learning:

  • Casino Argosy in Alton
  • Grand Victoria Casino
  • Hollywood’s Aurora Casino
  • At the Hollywood Casino, Joliet
  • Resort Casino Par – A-Ball

Argosy briefly launched its brick-and-mortar sportsbook right before all casino operations were suspended because of COVID-19. It’s since reopened but doesn’t have a mobile offering. BetMGM Illinois could hit the market soon, as it owns Grand Victoria and has been quick to launch in other states.

Did non-major sport events and global football be able to maintain some gambling interest when the major leagues return? Ultimately, only time will tell.

This really hope that we can get to a place where that question can be answered, shall we?
