In Illinois, constitutional sports gambling is currently available.

Eddie Olczyk, a broadcaster for the Chicago Blackhawks and former player, made the first-ever legal sports bet in the state by staking $100 on the home team White Sox to win the American League championship. This wager was placed at BetRivers Casino on Monday.

I’m willing to bet that the Chicago White Sox will clinch the American League championship. It’s not a straightforward prediction, but I believe in it. During the ceremony in Des Plaines on Monday, Olczyk stated, “$100.”

As of Monday morning, BetRivers had given the White Sox a 16-1 future advantage to secure the AL.

Second to business: BetRivers

Rivers Casino is equipped with five gambling windows and 30 sports betting kiosks, distributed all over the casino.

The brand-new book not only includes 14 HD televisions and a 47-foot-wide LED movie wall, but also features live betting odds.

Additionally, an operational full-service table with seating for 32 is open.

“We are extremely thrilled. We’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time,” Corey Wise, the General Manager of Rivers Des Plaines, expressed his excitement to FOX 32 Chicago on Monday. “We are looking forward to launching the first legal sports bet in Illinois. We’ve prepared a wonderful space for our guests and can’t wait to kick things off.”

We first introduced it as a sports bar in late December. It’s 5,000 square feet and includes televisions and a 45-inch movie wall that spans the entire space. In the style of a Vegas casino, we have luxurious, comfortable chairs for your enjoyment. We’re very excited to showcase it.

“Wise went on to explain, “We offer all major sports – MLB, NBA, Major League Baseball, and more. However, we also cater to a range of other activities, such as rugby and darts, which are open for wagering. You can place bets in several ways – from a simple moneyline, where you wager on the winner versus the spread, to parlays, where you combine bets from different events for a higher pay-off. Therefore, we will have a broad array of offerings for all sports bettors out there.”

following in Illinois

Both Argosy in Alton and the Grand Victoria in Elgin are anticipated to open their own retail sportsbooks soon, possibly even as early as next week.

On Monday, the truth was revealed on Argosy Kansas City’s Twitter profile through a tweet:

“How exciting! The sportsbook at our sister property, Argosyalton, became available on March 16! Get ready to place your bets now!”

The online sports betting market in The Prairie State is probably not going to launch until at least the start of the 2020 NFL season.

Wise announced, “We will be launching our online mobile app later this year. We have established a pre-registration process that allows you to sign up for a Rush Rewards card at our card center. This way, when we introduce our site, you will already be pre-registered for our online services.”

Betting lounges or kiosks for sports bettors could soon be seen at Wrigley Field, Guaranteed Rate Field, and the United Center in the state.
