It’s safe to say that sports betting is popular in the Land of Lincoln based on the second set of revenue numbers released by Illinois & rsquo.

In August, Illinois recorded a handle of $139.8 million, an increase from July’s $51.4 million.

In August, BetRivers Illinois, the only casino authorized to take online bets for the entire month, made an impressive $117.7 million.

Let’s review all the crucial numbers and classify them according to their appropriate contexts, based on an unusual month in the Prairie State.

BetRivers Dominates Illinois Sports Betting August Revenue Report 2

Illinois manage numbers, according to casino

As August drew to a close, Illinois was home to seven sportsbooks in total. However, only three – BetRivers, DraftKings, and FanDuel – were accepting online bets at that time.

Only the financial versions of the other four books were sold. Here are the sales numbers.

Sportsbook Handle
BetRivers $ 117.7 billion
DraftKings $ 14 million
FanDuel $ 4. 2 million
Sportsbook( retail-only ) at Argosy Casino Alton $ 2. 7 million
William Hill( exclusively retail ) $585,097
Sportsbook at the Joliet Casino in Hollywood( store only ) $325,598
Sportsbook at Aurora Casino in Hollywood( financial only ) $167,060

These statistics contain a lot of noise, so let’s attempt to minimize it.

BetRivers’ top position is hardly surprising, despite it being a successful quarter for them.

For the initial 21 weeks of August, it was essential to have an in-person membership. BetRivers managed to register people electronically for most of June and July.

DraftKings went online on Aug. 5, but until Aug. 21, users could only sign up by visiting DraftKings at Casino Queen in East St. Louis.

Meanwhile, FanDuel Sportsbook didn’t become operational until August 28, so its August figures only represent four days of activity.

Also, BetRivers put on a fantastic performance.

Despite those limitations, the numbers still remain significant for BetRivers.

In August, it logged around $3.8 million in manage daily. Similarly, when DraftKings was launched online, it documented nearly $1.3 million each day for comparison.

In the last four days of August, FanDuel reported a daily handle of approximately $1 million.

DraftKings, FanDuel, PointsBet, and William Hill are expected to fill the void in September. However, there is still a significant amount of ground to cover.

In September, there will be an interesting case study on the behavior of Illinois’ “sticky” sports betting customers.

BetRivers took a significant lead in user registration, experiencing a spectacular August. Although the Illinois sector is still in its infancy, it showed more stability in September compared to August.

Online prince

In July, 93% of all betting activities in Illinois were staked by sports bettors, according to website betting.

Around 94% of bets were placed online in August, which was fairly consistent with previous months.

Furthermore, this was in a context where a majority of the month required in-person membership. As expected, during the COVID-19 pandemic, most customers opted to use BetRivers on their mobile devices instead of visiting a casino.

Sportsbooks generated $7.2 million in revenue, corresponding to a 5.2% hold.

Illinois may experience a massive September.

Despite having only one notable sportsbook for the majority of August, Illinois still managed to register a higher betting turnover than sports betting in Colorado.

In August, Colorado, known for its numerous sports gambling applications, reported a control of $118.6 million.

Illinois is closely trailing Indiana. The business in the Hoosier State is much more advanced than that in Illinois, and it registered a control of $169 million in August.

Also, expect major events in September.

Football is the most popular sport to bet on, and both the NFL and college sports seasons have officially started.

Moreover, DraftKings and FanDuel had an entire month to register new digital bettors, which they accomplished by using substantial amounts of advertising funds.

In mid-September, PointsBet and William Hill sportsbooks were launched. Since its inception, PointsBet has been proactive in attracting customers, establishing itself as the official betting partner of the Chicago Bears and presenting numerous irresistible promotions involving the Bears.

In the middle of September, 230,000 sports betting accounts were established, according to Marcus Fruchter, the administrator of the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB).

Illinois has already taken advantage of smart registration, which may potentially conclude on October 17.
