Danville casino costs increasing

The construction of the new casino in Danville is on track, despite facing some challenges along the way.

The construction of the Golden Nugget casino on the east side of the city is being overseen by James Wilmont, vice president of gaming at Wilmorite Management. Wilmont has reported that as the project moves forward, the construction costs are rising.

Shipping costs for all materials have doubled in some cases compared to last year, due to inflation and limited supply. This surge in prices has led to significantly higher rates. We have observed a noticeable and gradual rise in prices throughout this project.

Despite increasing costs, the project is on track to meet its schedule for the grand opening. Golden Nugget expects to start accepting bets by March 2023.

The casino’s steel framework is projected to be finished by Labor Day at the current pace. By Thanksgiving, the building will be fully enclosed to shield it from the harsh Illinois winter.

After Golden Nugget opens for business, it will feature 500 slot machines and 14 table games. Additionally, guests can enjoy dining at two restaurants and placing bets at the Golden Nugget Sportsbook.

Instead of building a temporary casino, Golden Nugget in Illinois has decided not to construct one and will wait until their main construction is completed.

Yet, skipping that step allows the company to speed up the construction process for the main casino.

Danville’s building construction is on track and expected to be finished in about 11 months, which is remarkable compared to the lengthy timelines of other projects in the state.

The Golden Nugget’s location, previously a manufacturing facility, offers a large 60,000 square feet of space which easily meets all of the casino’s needs.

Danville’s property is scheduled to open in March 2023, presenting a prime opportunity for it to gain a competitive edge. The impending opening of a new casino in Terre Haute the following fall makes it crucial for the Golden Nugget to establish itself quickly.
