Golden Nugget Danville Casino Over-Budget But On Track To Open In 2023

The construction of the new Golden Nugget Casino in Danville is progressing as planned. Betting is set to commence in the early part of the upcoming year.

Golden Nugget is among a few new casinos that are soon to be introduced to the state of Illinois.

Danville casino costs increasing

The new casino in Danville is maintaining its construction schedule, but this doesn’t imply that the project has been free of challenges.

James Wilmont, Wilmorite Management’s vice president of gaming, is overseeing the construction of the Golden Nugget casino on the east side of the city. Wilmont reports that as the project progresses, the construction costs are increasing.

In some instances, the shipping costs of all materials have doubled compared to last year. The surge in prices can be attributed to inflation and limited supply, which have significantly increased rates. We have noticed a considerable gradual increase in prices in this project.

Even with escalating expenses, the project is maintaining its schedule for the grand opening. Golden Nugget anticipates accepting bets by March 2023.

At the current pace, the casino’s steel framework will be completed by Labor Day. By Thanksgiving, the building will be completely enclosed to protect it from the harsh winter of Illinois.

Once Golden Nugget is operational, it will boast 500 slot machines and 14 table games. This is complemented by two restaurants and, naturally, a Golden Nugget Sportsbook.

While some Illinois projects are choosing to construct temporary casinos to accommodate gamblers during their main construction, Golden Nugget has opted to forego a temporary facility.

However, bypassing that step enables the company to hasten the construction process for the main casino.

The construction of Danville’s building is progressing as planned and is expected to be completed in approximately 11 months. This is quite impressive, especially when compared to the several years it takes to complete other projects across the state.

The Golden Nugget’s site, a former manufacturing facility, boasts a spacious 60,000 square feet, amply accommodating all of the casino’s requirements.

The planned opening of Danville’s property in March 2023 provides a good opportunity for it to establish itself ahead of the competition. With a new casino set to open in Terre Haute across the state line the following fall, it’s advantageous for the Golden Nugget to be operational as early as possible.
