Golden Nugget Gains Illinois Market Access, Partners With Danville Development

Golden Nugget is coming to Illinois, provided that the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) approves the Danville casino.

On Thursday, an agreement was struck between Danville Development and Golden Nugget Online Gaming. This will allow Golden Nugget to provide sports betting and potentially an online casino in Illinois, pending legalization.

The gambling industry may potentially fund the building of the physical casino. In addition, a Landry & rsquo steakhouse restaurant could also be situated on the premises.

The move is somewhat unexpected as, at the time of writing, Danville is not currently a game candidate. Therefore, it may be a while before residents of Illinois can visit a Golden Nugget or place bets there.

Regardless of the situation, this information is crucial. Moreover, it may shed some light on the potential aftermath of sports gambling in Illinois.

Are there any upcoming Illinois website games?

Golden Nugget, however, is more recognized for its virtual casino product than it is for sports betting, which will likely be the case in Illinois.

Recently, Golden Nugget declared its intention to penetrate the Michigan market, primarily focusing on its online casino product. The owner, Tilman Fertitta, stated:

We are gearing up to become the leading iGaming business in America. Our strength will be unparalleled in the sports sector of the iGaming industry. We believe that the real value lies where the money is, where the customers are more valuable, and where substantial profits can be made going forward.

Currently, Golden Nugget is the market leader in New Jersey. However, online casinos are not yet legal in Illinois. Still, one might reasonably question whether Golden Nugget would consider Illinois as a priority if the option for an online casino was not available.

Currently, there are no established programs to offer online casino games in Illinois. However, this doesn’t mean that it won’t happen in the future.

Illinois is confronted with a budget deficit, especially following the failure of the “Fair Tax” amendment to pass. Governor JB Pritzker has demonstrated an openness to extend gaming in the state.

Generally, it is opposed by local restaurant and pub owners, while game operators favor it.

a very long period of time

A game is likely to be built in Danville at some point, but it won’t be accessible in the near future. Clearly, Golden Nugget is adopting a long-term perspective in this case.

Danville Development is yet to submit its application to the IGB. When it finally does, it might take a year or even longer before a decision is made. This is evident from several casinos that applied in October 2019 and are still awaiting a response. The IGB has requested these casinos to modify their applications.

The approval process for building a casino can be quite lengthy. However, if a Golden Nugget casino opens in Danville around the same time as the passage of online casino legislation, it would be a significant win for the company.

Casino candidates from Illinois in purgatory

Several Illinois casino applicants, as previously stated, submitted their paperwork in October 2019.

The deadline for the decision was a few weeks ago, but the IGB did not issue any casino licenses during the meeting. Instead, there are eight candidates whose applications were revised.

The superintendent of the IGB, Marcus Fruchter, reported that a written explanation for the delay had been provided to the applicants.

Danville was not included because it has not yet submitted its components to the IGB. However, now that Golden Nugget is involved, we may see this happening soon.

According to James Wilmot, vice president of Wilmot, The Golden Nugget is a renowned model that not only bolsters the submission but also provides additional opportunities and enhances the overall project.

Danville Development includes Wilmot.

It’s expected that Illinois will transform into a major gaming hub in the US in the upcoming years. Therefore, it’s logical for a company such as Golden Nugget to show interest in being a part of it.
