A presentation was made by Hard Rock Casino Rockford to the Illinois Gaming Board( IGB ) on Wednesday, and a preliminary suitability andrdquo decision will be made on February 4.

Although it may not be the final approval, it would represent a vital initial step in gaining one. A formal endorsement is necessary before any development can commence.

The 2019 gaming expansion bill permits the construction of six new casinos in Illinois. Yet, the process has been progressing very slowly.

In October 2019, numerous groups submitted their applications, with the IGB anticipated to reach a decision within a year. However, this past October, the IGB postponed making a decision, requesting eight applicants to revise their applications.

Hard Rock was one of those aspirants.

If approved on February 4, one of the largest gaming companies in the US will likely visit Illinois.

What is known about the Hard Rock Casino in Rockford?

A website for Hard Rock Casino Rockford is already up and running. Upon visiting the site, guests are presented with the following information:

The Hard Rock Casino Rockford, potentially boasting 64,000 feet of gaming space, a variety of dining choices, and a live hard rock music venue, is strategically located at the intersection of State Street and I-90. Once operational, the project is set to generate more than 1,000 part-time and full-time jobs and provide the City of Rockford with a minimum yearly gaming revenue of $7 million. I am deeply grateful to the Rockford community for your enthusiasm and support.

According to the website, the casino’s yearly tax revenue is estimated to be between $50 million and $60 million.

The construction was valued at around $310 million.

Officials also stated that a temporary gaming establishment did open approximately 90 days following the final approval, offering only games.

The game has plans to eventually incorporate a 1,600-seat pleasure area. The chosen location seems optimal as the website states that it sees a daily traffic of 65,000 cars.

At the moment, the nearest gambling options to Rockford are the Hollywood Casino Aurora and the Grand Victoria Casino Elgin.

However, both are approximately an hour and a half apart.

Rockford, situated in the northern part of Illinois, is the state’s fifth most populous city, home to approximately 147,000 residents.

Golden Nugget will take over the Danville license, while the downtown Chicago casino still has numerous details to sort out, including its location.

The Hard Rock Casino Rockford is currently leading the race to be the next gaming establishment to be built in Illinois. If chosen, it would be the eleventh in the state.
