sports betting outage

Placing a last-minute bet on the Super Bowl in Illinois on Sunday may have been a frustrating experience if you were trying to do so.

On Sunday, disruptions were experienced by Illinois sports betting customers at DraftKings, BetRivers and FanDuel. The main period of outages was the hour prior to kickoff, although some continued throughout the game.

Illinois’ two other online sportsbooks, PointsBet and William Hill, did not experience any issues.

It seems that Kambi, the backend provider for DraftKings and BetRivers, is the reason why customers are experiencing issues with these two apps.

The following statement was provided by DraftKings to Legal Sports Report, which is the sister site of Play Illinois:

Customers were unable to access our mobile and online Sportsbook, & ldquo, We & rsquo said in a statement made available to & nbsp, LSR. Andnbsp, & ldquo, It appears that a spike in traffic was the cause of this interruption, which was problematic for our server provider. Our in-house technology-supported Dss and lakes products are working flawlessly. This event demonstrates why we think it’s crucial to own our own systems. & rdquo,

DraftKings plans to transition to its technology program later this month.

Kambi stated that the outage was caused by an exceptionally high volume of bets placed on one market.

According to the company, this specific issue was promptly identified and resolved before beginning. At that point, Kambi processed the most considerable amount of imagine chapters in its history.

Even before it was over, Barstool Sportsbook, which uses Kambi, was expected to soon launch in Illinois.

Nevertheless, the following tweet was posted on Sunday by FanDuel:

Kamb is not employed by FanDuel, which utilizes its own systems.

Illinois legitimate bets on the first Super Bowl

Given that legal sports gambling is still relatively new in the US, it’s not particularly surprising.

Regulated operators are still advised against it. The Super Bowl continues to be the sports event with the highest amount of bets placed in a single year.

Despite facing issues, the number of location hits for sports betting witnessed a 236% rise from the previous Super Bowl Sunday. Consequently, with such an exceptional influx of visitors, it’s easy to comprehend why some providers couldn’t handle the load and crashed.

What’s the positive update? As we continue to resolve issues during our early stage, we should expect fewer complications in the future.

Why it’s nice to have more competition

In Illinois, only five online casinos are still operational, and 60% of them experienced downtime at certain times on Super Bowl Sunday.

They also happened to be the three most popular operators in Illinois.

Two out of the five books in IL utilize Kambi. If our expectations are correct and Barstool Illinois is the next operator to go live, then Kambi will run half of the sportsbooks in the state.

That option may not be the best for online shoppers, but it is also appropriate for occasions such as Sunday.

Unibet and BetMGM’s online sportsbook are also set to launch in Illinois, potentially bringing the total website operators to eight this year. It should be noted that BetMGM encountered issues in Nevada on Sunday, although they didn’t seem to garner as much attention as the others.

For those who placed bets on Sunday, the Buccaneers won against the Chiefs with a score of 31-9 in the game.

The Tampa Bay final was unanimously considered a three-point underdog.
