State Rep. Bob Rita introduced the Internet Gaming Act in February, which would legalize online casino in Illinois. A word of warning, online casino advocates: There is an in-person registration component in the bill.

Unfortunately, in-person registration has been in the news a lot lately, as Gov. JB Pritzkerrecently decided to bring back the policy for online sports betting. Pritzker had waived the requirement for several months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The good news is that compared to online sports betting, the virtual casino registration requirement is less onerous. The two entertainment bills differ in the following ways.

It would be easier to register in person at an online game.

For six months following the introduction of online gambling in Illinois, you would need to register in person at the cooperating financial casino.

Here is the exact language in the Internet Gaming Act legislation:

During the first six months of operation, available individuals must open online wagering balances in person at a casino or track. An accounts can be created online after the first six months of operation without physically showing up.

You may sign up online on your computer or mobile device once the six months have passed.

That & rsquo is about as simple as it gets.

comprehensive policy

Who’s For, Against Major Gaming Proposals: Illinois has several pending pieces of gaming legislation. Here’s who is arguing for and against the proposals.

Not so muddled is the act speech at online casinos.

The process of in-person register for online sports betting is much more complicated than it would be for playing at an online game.

By comparison, here’s the language in the Sports Wagering Act:

An individual must physically register at a sports facility or the designee & rsquo, s facility to take part in sports wagering offered over the Internet or by mobile application, prior to the issuance of the first license under Sections 25 and 45.

And the pertinent sections of Sections 25 and 45 are listed below:

For a nonrefundable registration fee of$ 20,000 or$ 60,000, the Board shall grant 3 learn sports wager licenses to online sports betting users.

Within 540 days of the first license being issued in accordance with this Act, the Board must receive applications for the first competitive selection occurring after its effective date in order to be eligible. Within 630 days of the first license being issued in accordance with this Act, the Board must declare the successful bidders for the first competitive selection.

Online registration is not possible until 540 to 630 days after June 11, 2020, when the first sports betting licenses were issued by the Illinois Gaming Board( IGB ).

That may set us sometime between December 2021 and March 2022.

In a nutshell:

OnlineCasino: Six months after a particular controller launches, in-person membership may expire.

  • Online Sports Betting: Online registration is required, but you cannot withdraw it until a mobile-only registration is granted.

Online casinos don’t require a portable permit only.

However, there & rsquo, s more.

A mobile-only sports betting certificate is also necessary for sports bettors to gain their online registration, as was already mentioned. Sadly, that prohibition is not included in the laws governing online casinos.

These certificates are only available electronically and cost$ 20 million each, much more. than a typical certificate.

There’s a chance that no one will compete for those certificates since Illinois now has the majority of the top sports betting operators. If that occurs, there will either need to be a legislative fix or in-person membership will continue.

When the law was written, it didn’t seem like DraftKings or FanDuel had a way into the market. In theory, they’d be interested in the online-only licenses.

But now that DraftKings and FanDuel are operating in Illinois via retail casino partners, the list of potential suitors is short, or perhaps nonexistent. BetMGM is a candidate, though that can’t be said with certainty.

Online poker game is included in the Illinois virtual casino costs.

Beyond the six-month in-person registration requirement, here are some other highlights of the online casino bill:

  • Online poker game is included in the act.
  • Live dealer versions of online casino games would be available.
  • All games profits would be subject to a 12 % privilege tax.
  • The highest number of coats allowed by the act is 36.

Michigan, the most recent state to launch online casino, is off to a fantastic start. Operators profited nearly $80 million in their first full month.

For context, Illinois sports betting has never profited more than $50 million in a single month.
