Update: Rivers Casino New Poker Room Is Now Open

The Des Plaines casino has announced that the brand-new Riverspokerroomis is now open.
The poker room is included in the $87 million expansion plans for Rivers. Given its popularity in Illinois and its proximity to Chicago, Rivers is anticipated to be hugely successful.
Illinois now boasts four poker rooms. Each room spans 5,600 square feet and contains 22 poker tables.
Previously, Rush Street Gaming’s co-founder and CEO Greg Carlin stated:
The proposed expansion will enable us to offer our guests a wider range of entertainment, dining options, gaming opportunities and a much-anticipated casino room. We have always prided ourselves on delivering a first-rate experience for our visitors. As the economy starts to reopen, we are excited to raise the bar and provide an even enhanced experience.
The expansion of the casino will ultimately cover a total of 78,000 square feet. While the first floor of the expansion is finished, work on the second floor is still underway.

Recently, two of the five Chicago casino proposals were cut by the Lightfoot administration, leaving only three remaining.
The proposals for Bally & rsquo and Rivers Chicago McCormick Place were turned down. This leaves the following pair:

- Bally, a division of Tribune Publishing
- One Central Hard Rock
The three concepts will be deliberated at local meetings this week. The respective times and locations for these occurrences are as follows:
April 5 at the Harold Washington Library in Hard Rock
- Bally’s: Tribune Publishing Plant, April 6.
- Sadie Dorin and Isadore Forum on River, April 7.
Lightfoot expects to make a decision by the start of the summer.
