The opening of a new poker room is imminent, with various components of Rivers Casino’s $87 million expansion already in place.

Excitement is building for the debut of the Rivers flower’s blackjack area in Illinois, expected to be a hit. With just three poker rooms in the state, Rivers is poised to be a prime location for another one.

Rivers Casino in Illinois boasts the highest revenue of any casino in the state, making its 22-table poker room a highly anticipated attraction.

When the expansion was announced, Rush Street Gaming CEO and co-founder Greg Carlin expressed:

With this planned expansion, we will be able to provide our guests with more entertainment and dining choices, as well as a larger selection of gaming opportunities including a highly anticipated poker room. Our track record of offering top-quality experiences to visitors speaks for itself. As the economy begins to recover, we are eager to enhance our offerings and provide an even higher level of service.

The Rivers growth is a two-story building, with the first floor currently finished. On January 24th, an Asian-themed restaurant and an expanded games area were officially opened.

The casino’s overall development spans 78,000 square feet, with the poker room famously named the King Diamond.

Rivers has lofty goals for Chicago.

Rivers, a prominent player in the Chicagoland region, is focused on greatly improving its product offerings.

Of the five megacasino proposals in Chicago, two are set to be located in areas under its jurisdiction. One is slated for McCormick Place, while the other is planned for “The 78” development site, near Chinatown and the south loop.

The 78 blog appears to have a high chance of winning the bid, with Bally submitting two proposals and Hard Rock submitting one.

When the Des Plaines poker space opens in April, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is expected to reveal the winning bidder.

Illinois is considering lifting its indoor mask mandate for gambling on February 28.

Rivers is located in Cook County, where vaccination is currently mandatory, unlike any other area in Illinois.

As of next month, Rivers will no longer require masks or vaccinations as Cook County is set to lift both mandates.

In simple terms, accurately forecasting the trajectory of the COVID-19 pandemic has been difficult in the past. As a result, it remains uncertain if these changes will prove to be effective in the long run.

Although Rivers Des Plaines’ company is currently successful, the upcoming changes are anticipated to further expand the customer base, particularly with the introduction of a new casino area.
