Which Sportsbooks Have Eyes On The No. 2 Sports Betting Bachelor?
Illinoisbecame the No. 2 sports betting market in the US in April, recording $537.2 million in handle. The Land of Lincoln was behind No. 1New Jersey in the total amount of money wagered.
So, with that news, sportsbooks will be eager to get into the Illinois market. There are six online sportsbooks in Illinois right now, a small number compared to other legal sports betting states.
With that said, Illinois is complicated. The in-person registration requirement will be in place until 2022, and current operators got a massive head start thanks to seven-plus months of online registration.
In any case, the pie is so large that it makes sense to follow Illinois from outside casino operators.
The number of prospective new casinos in Illinois is expanding. All we know about the books that might be published in the Prairie State is around andrsquo.
Illinois candidates for BetMGM and Unibet are still pending.
According to the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) website, BetMGM and Unibet are the lone pending applicants for a mobile license.
Since the fall, We & rsquo has been aware of their interest.
However, the profit to in-person membership shattered both of their programs.
Unibet has a market access deal with Argosy Casino Alton. But once Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker ended online sign-ups, Unibet confirmed with Play Illinois that it would have to “reevaluate” its launch plans in the state. A few months later, we haven’t heard any updates about Unibet.
Nevertheless, BetMGM is even more mysterious. There was rumor that it would negotiate a business entry agreement with Par-A-Dice Casino because both companies are affiliated with Boyd Gaming.
However, with in-person registration here for the upcoming months, BetMGM might be tempted to submit a charge for an impending winter license that will only be valid for wireless devices. BetMGM may be willing to pay the$ 20 million fee for an online-only license because it has deep pockets.
When the IGB issues one of those certificates, everyone is prompted to register remotely.
There are still more casinos in the arms.
We are aware that Golden Nugget, theScore Bet, and The Bally Bet are all interested in entering the Illinois sports gambling business.
What we know about each is here and rsquo.
The Bally Bet
The most recent IGB meeting was an eventful one for Bally’s. The national gaming operator is now the official owner of Jumer’s Casino & Hotel.
BallyBet will soon be able to offer in-person sports betting thanks to the board’s approval of a financial sports gambling permit for the casino. Naturally, it will also need to participate in the online activity.
The Given that it made a significant investment to buy some Fox Sports local networks, Bally Bet is expected to be more influential in different markets. Illinoisans probably won’t be as familiar with the brand because the majority of local sports in Chicago are broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago or Marquee Sports.
The Bally Bet is currently only live in Colorado, but figures to launch in more states soon.
TheScore Bet & nbsp,
A market entry agreement exists between TheScore Bet and the Joliet casino, sarrah & rsquo TheScore may soon be able to run a physical betting at the Joliet casino thanks to the IGB’s recent approval of its financial sports betting license.
Regarding online gambling, theScore Bet has not yet fully applied for a certificate. Given that it has a relatively new market access agreement with Harrah & rsquo, it is unlikely that the applicant will be interested in pursuing an only mobile license.
The Golden Nugget & nbsp
Of all the sportsbooks we’ve mentioned so much, Golden Nugget has the most intriguing situations.
At a recent earnings call, the company president said that Golden Nugget plans to launch online sports betting in Illinois in the fourth quarter of 2021. Though at the moment, that doesn’t seem possible.
Golden Nugget has a market access deal with the Danville casino, but there’s just one problem: A casino in Danville doesn’t exist yet. It should eventually, but we’re likely years away.
In the interim, that might indicate Golden Nugget & rsquo’s desire to pursue a mobile-only license. In December, programs should be available.
It & rsquo, s either that or Golden Nugget has a different market access agreement in the works that neither party is yet aware of.
